BAC Counseling
Counseling at Bayes Achievement Center (BAC) is crucial for our high-functioning students. It fosters a trusting relationship between students and trained professionals, facilitating change by addressing unhealthy thought patterns. Many students struggle with emotions and desires, negatively impacting their academics and relationships. Our counselors identify the root causes of these behaviors and guide students toward solutions.
Counselors create individualized plans, using evidence-based models that effectively teach students to manage frustration, cope with grief, build relationships, and regulate emotions. Each student's unique needs inform the tailored plans. The ultimate goal of counseling at BAC is to equip students with tools to become functioning members of society, no longer governed by impulses and emotional reactions.
Individual Counseling
Individual counseling is provided to students per their IEP or Treatment Team decisions. Sessions last 30-60 minutes weekly and focus on individual needs. Daily formal counseling is not required due to our 24-hour Behavior Therapy Program; counselors support teachers and parents in addressing emergent needs.
Family and Group Counseling
Family counseling is available monthly upon request and may increase as reunification nears, focusing on effective communication and boundary-setting. Group counseling provides students a safe environment to practice social skills, learn about puberty, establish boundaries, and manage emotions. Led by two licensed counselors, it includes psychoeducational and process groups, meeting weekly, bi-monthly, or monthly as per the IEP or Treatment Team's decision.
